BREWING RECOMMENDATIONs

Research was conducted to examine how long a tea bag or loose tea should boil for maximum health benefits. African teas showed increased antioxidant activity when the boiling time was more than 5 minutes. When boiled for longer than 10 minutes, the antioxidant activity became remarkably higher. Imagine the health benefits when adding a tea bag or two to soups, stews and main dishes!

SIMPLE:

Be sure to use fresh, great quality water. The best tea will only taste as good as the water used to brew it.

  • Bring pot to a boil, then simply fill your teapot or cup with the boiling water, pouring over the teabag or infuser.
  • Brew 3-5 minutes.
  • Microwave methods are not recommended.
  • For iced tea, be sure to brew the tea with hot water as recommended above, then pour over ice, rather than using the "sun tea" method. Cold teas are equally as delicious and refreshing, and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
